My name is Shaun Whoriskey and I've been working as a digital artist in animation/games for over 4 years and have worked on collaborations with the BBC, Uproar Comics, Shakinda Productions, Blacknorth Studios & BlackMarket Games to name a few.
My skillset covers a broad spectrum of digital arts, animation & design and through my studio work have engaged in research in motion capture, 3d scanning/topology reconstruction and dynamic physics driven animation.
My work revolves around reconciling aesthetics, a script or doodle into something that exists and breathes on screen. I love working with people and in particular in creative problem solving. If you can imagine it, you can build it.
As part of the CultureTECH In residence programme I and a number of other digital creatives will be each paired with a creative business & with 2-3 weeks will be tasked with tackling a creative problem or opportunity within said business.
The Holywell Trust have came forward as a client for this programme - their Project - the City Walls Heritage Project aims to raise awareness of the Derry City Walls and their respective historical significance. The project is coordinated by Mark Lusby.

After my first initial introduction to Mark - we were able to establish both a problem and an opportunity faced by the City Walls Project.
- Design Problem - how to engage more people, especially those with access to internet into getting interested in the towns history, for education, tourism and as a means of conflict resolution through embracing our shared history.
- Opportunity - particularly with access to the 3d scan data how to use this in parallel with conventional historical/tourist information to create an interactive augmented product/exhibition/app or experience, no competitors exist on the regional scale and said framework could prove fit for purpose elsewhere.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Initially Mark had mentioned about the idea of an app, while longer term that might be a goal but I recommended in the short term an app creates barriers to accessibility cross platform and that a web based platform would be cheaper, faster and more accessable.
Mark expressed interest in focusing on laying the ground work for an interactive element which brought together the mix of contextual and contemporary information in a way that was intuitive and appealing and we agreed that we could work towards a design solution that would be accommodating to both the problem & opportunity.
